Happy almost August! I’m so excited that another month is almost gone, because that means I am one month closer to my wedding! I feel like the days are passing SOOO slowly, though at the same time I am somewhat glad they are because I am nowhere near finished planning. I honestly feel like I should write a post or two about wedding planning or how life is going right now for me, so we’ll see. For now, here’s a fun picture of me and my fiancé from our engagement shoot. (Isn’t he just the sweetest???)

Anyway, another thing that the coming of August means is that there are even more new books coming out for us to read! Although my life is crazy busy and I don’t get to read nearly as often as I would like to, new books are still one of my all-time favorite things, and I love getting to search around and find out all about them! I also absolutely love sharing about new books that are releasing with you, my lovely readers, so I hope you love hearing about them! Although there aren’t as many books coming out this month, the few that are look fantastic! Take a peek!

Featured Releases

First up are my featured releases, which just means these are the books by authors I am very familiar and would feel confident recommending to you even if I had no idea what it was about. Fortunately for you, however, I have included the back cover description for each, which is sure to make you look forward to them all the more!

The Loyal One by Shelley Shepard Gray

The Loyal One is the second book in Shelley’s Walnut Creek series, coming after The Patient One.

When Katie Steury hires her old friend Harley Lambright to remodel her rundown old house into a charming bed and breakfast, she does so with trepidation. Though they are longtime friends, they’ve always had a rocky relationship, thanks to her being partly responsible for his most recent breakup. But while they may not always get along, she needs someone to trust with her secrets, and Harley is nothing if not trustworthy and loyal.

Katie has always reminded Harley of a bright hummingbird—she is small and flighty, moves a mile a minute, and she possesses a very sharp beak. He’s hesitant to accept the job because of his history with Katie. But when he realizes that Katie’s been hiding her mother’s hoarding, he agrees to help her because it’s clear she needs someone on her side.

Both soon discover that clearing the debris in one old house also means they have to do some clean-up in their lives, forcing them to reevaluate their past and their future. This somewhat painful process reveals that Katie isn’t the only one with secrets. As the house gets a second chance, so, too, does their relationship. Now all they have to do is open their hearts—and hope and pray that their new bond will also stand the test of time.

A Perfect Silhouette by Judith McCoy Miller

A Perfect Silhouette is a stand-alone novel.

In 1850, Mellicent “Mellie” Blanchard takes a job at a mill in Manchester, New Hampshire, to help support her family. In search of additional earning opportunities, she approaches a daguerreotype shop owner with the proposal that he hire her to make paper cuttings or silhouette portraits for those who can’t afford an expensive daguerreotype.

When a particularly charming customer—whose broad smile and twinkling eyes catch her off guard—asks to escort her home, the seeds of romance begin to blossom. All the pieces of her new life seem to have fallen perfectly into place, but when her new venture brings her an unexpected opportunity, she is confronted with the truth that all is not as it seems. Will Mellie, who is keeping secrets of her own, find happiness in the new life she has carved out for herself in the busy mill town?

Other Releases

These are the books coming out by authors that I am somewhat familiar with, but either have not read anything by them yet (because my to-read list is forever long) or I have yet to find that one book by them that will force me to add them to my list of favorite authors and give them that leg up above the others. This does not mean that their books will be any less good, it just means that I want to be sure of what I am highly recommending to you and what I am just recommending.

A Glitter of Gold by Liz Johnson

Those are my featured releases for August! I cannot wait to read these, especially Finding Lady Enderly. Joanna Davidson Politano has been on my close watch list for quite some time now, and I have just been waiting for the day I finally have a chance to try out one of her novels. I think this might be the one I choose.

Has a book caught your eye as well? Tell me in the comments, whether it’s one from my list or just what you’re looking forward to reading next month!

Happy reading!
